About Grom Club

Grom Club is a collection of 16 keen young students who surf from Richard Lander School in Truro, Cornwall, UK. The school has a large surfing community with students who live all around the Cornish coast - some of which are already highly competent surfers and ones to watch in the future.

The school regularly competes to a high standard in local surf competitions and many students have had the opportunity to shape and custom design their own boards under the guidance of some of their teachers who are also heavily involved in the local and global surf community.

With this in mind an opportunity arose to set up a lunchtime and after school club to help teach students firstly how to repair and properly maintain their boards and then to begin to learn the basics of shaping, glassing and finishing boards from scratch. So with a small budget from the school to buy materials, and with four badly damaged boards donated by local surfers 'Grom Club' was born!
